Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
