Caribbean Poker Rules and Hints

Poker has become globally acclaimed lately, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years many variations on the first poker game have been created, including some games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of the above-mentioned games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with blackjack than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers bet against the casino instead of each other. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or other types of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the dealer announcing "No more bets." At that point, both you and the bank and of course all of the other players receive five cards. Once you have observed your hand and the casino’s initial card, you must either make a call bet or surrender. The call bet’s value is on same level to your original wager, indicating that the risks will have doubled. Abandoning means that your wager goes instantaneously to the casino. After the wager is the conclusion. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, including a figure on par with the original wager. If the house has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand is greater than the bank’s hand. The house pays cash equal to your initial bet and fixed odds on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for two pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
