Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor in the world by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
