Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
