NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
